North Carolina Vacation 2008

I’m not sure how many years you have to do something before you can call it a tradition, but we went to Holden Beach, North Carolina for the 2nd time in June. It was a vacation full of memorable moments with family, peaceful times of rest, and action-packed adventures such as surfing (more on that in a later post).
Jennifer’s family has some long-time friends that made this trip possible again by letting us use their beach house. Jennifer’s sister, Kelly, and her husband, Brenton, flew out to meet the rest of us who made the drive from Indiana. Here’s a picture of the crew...

One of the obvious highlights was spending quality time on the sand and in the water.
We’re definitely beach people! As you will also see in a later post, Jaylon is a little beach boy and did really well with the ocean water.

One of God’s greatest blessings is family. We had a great time enjoying that gift this week and hanging out together. There was a lot of
laughter and many
great talks. We've both been blessed with some
exceptional parents and siblings that we love a lot!
In the next picture, we flipped our collars and spiked our hair straight up for fun. Check out Jaylon...

As you can see above, Jaylon enjoys being ‘one of the guys’. He also enjoyed being on the beach with his mom.

Before and after the days we spent on the beach, we stopped by to see Jennifer’s grandparents who also live in North Carolina. They have a beautiful farm with lots of wide open space, ponds for fishing and swimming, and a mountain to climb. We played games, ate great food, and made some more memories.

The games were fiercely competitive as you can see...

One of the last things we did before leaving the farm was to take a dive into the pond. Here’s some of the guys taking the plunge...

I’m so thankful that we were able to spend such quality time together as a family!

This was one of the most refreshing and relaxing vacations that I can remember. I came back to Lansing feeling rested up and ready to charge full speed ahead into the rest of the year.
